Juice Feasting In Oregon!

Happy Monday Everyone! It’s Day 15 of my juice feast! When I started this just over 2 weeks ago I wasn’t so sure how long I could hold out. The first few days were pretty intense as my body transitioned from solid foods to liquid. Then there was the cravings for solid food especially on Friday night!

It’s amazing how doing a juice feast puts you on a totally different frequency than most people in your lives. All of a sudden your not in the mood to go to any parties, or even go out where there might be solid foods and alcohol. Of course the old saying “partying no fun if you can’t party” is in to play a bit here. But, I think there is something much deeper going on. Solid foods and alcohol are processed in a way to keep us grounded to what I call “darker” energies. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having some adventures in the lower “muck” of the energetic world however, when you totally eliminate all intakes into your body that are from those realms you open yourself up to much more light to come in.

Spiritually I’ve felt a bit disconnected more so than usual however, I attribute this to the detox. It’s like when your sick. Sickness is a powerful tool that your body uses to purge out negative energies and matter. If you ever notice when your sick your not very concerned about the outside world or, if your in balance, or if your doing things right. It’s like the sickness allows you a reprieve from the normal detail saturated world. The same seems to be true with a juice feast. The deeper I am into detox the less I concern myself with what’s going on around me. In many ways it’s been a welcomed state of mind.

I’ve also been amazed at how present I am with just myself, others and everything. It’s like almost second nature when your on a juice feast. Normally I have to remind myself to take the time to be present with others, to make eye contact, to keep my heart open. This is due much to all the negative bombardment we have manifesting in our culture. Lately however, I’m just present naturally. It’s a really nice feeling.

Detox has been more intense the last few days because of not doing daily enemas for the first 10 days or so. Enemas are really important when doing a juice feast because they help keep you flushing stuff out everyday. The green juice loosens up all kinds of old impacted matter inside and, it’s usually more than what the body can handle. It seems, at least in Portland, OR that the REAL enema bags are hard to come by! So I had to mail order one off the internet and thus, pushed me out about a week. It’s good to get all that old stuff OUT!

I finally want to say something about all these “details” around a juice feast. There are many things to do when your feasting. Making juice, taking supplements, making sure you have all you need before you leave the house, body brushing, etc, etc. Some you will find are easy to do others you might have trouble remembering. Body brushing is something I’ve been forgetting to do when I get in the shower lately for instance.

It’s important that you don’t let all the details discourage you. It’s equally important that you do what is right for you. I’ve noticed that some people who juice feast drink 5-6 quarts of juice a day. I however, have found that 3-4 is enough for me as long as I’m doing coconuts and super foods as well. I feel good most of the time, I’m not hungry. Don’t force juice down your throat just because someone else says so. Do what feels right for you. And if you skip a detail that you think will benefit you then simply incorporate it into your daily routine. Don’t beat yourself up or think that your feast is “lesser than” because you haven’t been following each and every detail to the letter!

The fact that your undertaking or thinking about undertaking a 92 day juice feast is amazing in itself. So in preparing to do so, or in starting out, remember to just do what feels right for you. If anyone else tells you otherwise simply put them on ignore. It’s your body and , our relationships with our own bodies know better than anyone can ever tell us.

That’s all I got! Enjoy your week!

Here’s a video update of the last few days of my Juice Feasting adventure! Enjoy!

Saturday was a good day, I picked up some E3 live and had a couple shots of that. Also we treated ourselves to some Coconuts and Pineapple Juice. I tell ya raw, freshly squeezed pineapple juice rocks! Mild headache off and on, detox is rolling on. Overall been a good day. Trying to take it easy and minimize any hardcore activity as my body continues to purge. That’s it!

Day 5 and it’s Friday! Today I overall felt very good. I have discovered something very intersting the past couple days. As you may know daily enemas for the first 13 days or so are very important however, I discovered that 1. My enema bag is lost and 2. No drug store in Portland I can see carries them anymore. Funny considering I bought one just a couple years ago. Well I ended up ordering the same one I bought locally online. As you can see, I haven’t blogged much about this subject as it’s not something you talk about with your friends. But it’s good to note for those of you starting a juice feast make sure you can score an enima bag before you start otherwise you might have to order one such as I did.

Today I felt good, my body is starting to get into the vibe of having liquids. Detox is still happening and, I’m trying to take it easy and not do anything overly strenuous. Tonight will be a challenge as we usually go out to eat or get special food to take home for our friday nights. That’s it for this go around. Until day 6!

Day 4 here at juice feasting pdx!!

What a great day! Feeling pretty good right now! The greens are getting a little easier to digest. Marcus is definitely having an easier time with the greens. We have discovered that green leaf lettuce is quite disgusting to us!! Not sure what it is but the taste and smell are quite a challenge. So green leaf lettuce will be off the menu for the rest of this feast! =)

I reflected on missing out on eating solid foods and realized that I’ve had a whole lifetime of solid foods, cooked foods, processed foods, raw living foods, coffee, alcohol, etc. that comparing that to just 92 days of drinking (chewing?) some nutrient dense juices is really nothing! These thoughts helped my focus and to continue pushing my motivation button. I’m just really excited to honor my body, my vehicle, for this experience I’m journeying through called my life. I believe it is the first time in my life that I have actually given back to my body…loved my body in this way….nurtured my body. So yea, this is going to be one amazing ride for me….giddyup!

    Cheers to juice feasting!

Well here we are at day 4 of Juice Feasting goodness! Today was actually a good feeling day. That calorie intake calbiration I talked about in Day 3’s video update started to take hold today. I actually felt full at times and overall the level of detox is moderate.

My instincts however are telling me this is the calm before the storm but, since I’ve never done this before we’ll just have to see!

    Intake For Today:

    1 Quart Apple

    1 Quart Celery

    1 Quart Lettuce/Kale

    3-4 TSP Bee Pollen

    1 tsp Hemp Oil

    1 Young Coconut

    1/2 Quart Lettuce

    Herbal Teas

Today’s Juice Feasting adventure started out with a headache! I slept very deeply but when I awoke I was in full on detox mode. I also felt dehydrated despite drinking nothing but liquid the previous 24 hours. I woke up, made my juice and then spent some time in meditation and raising energy. I do a lot of energy work and healing which you can see at my healer blog which is listed on this blog. I found it interesting that when I was in meditation I could really let go of my physical body, to seperate the two.

I found that to be helpful because, when you can take those uneasy feelings of  detox and change. Or even those more emotional feelings that are surly to come up over the next 90 days and separate yourself from the physical body, it’s almost as if you can “disown” your physical sensations for periods of time, which I am surely to find handy as I go along this journey.

    My Juice today consisted of:

1 Quart Kale & Green Lettuce

    1 Quart Apple

    1 Quart Celery

1 Quart Young Coconut Water (2 Coconuts)

    1 Handfull of Bee Pollen

So I woke up, did my morning ritual and headed to my day job, as the day wore on the detox and “fast” feelings I’ve had when I’ve done fasts in the past got more intense as the day went on. Interestedly enough the juice didn’t taste very good either.

Then during the middle of the day I had a miracle happen, Mary delivered me a coconut and some bee pollen. After munching down on more bee pollen in one setting than I can ever remember and drinking the coconut dry I started to feel much better. As a bonus my 3rd quart of juice I had around 4:30PM really tasted good!

The take away for me on this is to make sure I have enough superfoods and nutrients in my body. If the juice starts to taste bad it’s probably due to not enough superfoods. Superfoods for me, so far seem to be the key to help get through the rough times. It’s now late evening and I’m feeling really good, I’m sure more detox is on the way but for now I’ll take what I can get!

I plan on concluding the evening with a long meditation and raise some more energy, and a good stretch!

Here’s to more magical Juice Feasting ahead!

    Day 1: Monday, March 29, 2010:

Today is the start of 92 days of  juicy feasting goodness. I look forward to the end result but know that right now I must focus on the day to day, the moment I’m in now, so I keep pushing forward to that end result I desire. If I look forward 92 days I see all the beautiful, wonderful health benefits I will achieve but I also have my brain showing me all the things I will be missing out on too. Funny how that works, hee hee. I have been “getting ready” for this feast for about 2 years now. So yea, I have finally taken the plunge and I know that I’m truly ready now to see this juicy fun to the end!

This morning when I got up I had a quart of water and 2 caps of MSM. I then juiced most of my intake for the day. Worked out to be 1 quart each: kale, green leaf lettuce, apples, and celery. Today has already presented challenges for me. I’m a avid coffee drinker and my body has been yelling at me all day for attention. It’s letting me know that we haven’t got our fix in today. =) I also gorged heavily on cooked foods over the weekend…a goodbye to solids…which has left me a little toxic feeling.  Plus, I fed my tummy a large dose of greens this morning and I believe it was a little more healthy goodness than my tummy was looking for. So I have some queasiness sticking with me today. Luckily, I had the work day off so could take the rest I needed. I drank some apple juice and a decaf herbal tea to help ease the queeze. I also did some meditation work.

I’m starting this feast out weighing in at about 167 lbs. I would love to loose over 40 lbs on this feast and get down to around 125 lbs. Though, I’m not sure if that is ideal for my body size, height, etc. So I will not be fixated on a number.

Some goals for this feast: finally letting go of my emotional attachment to food, taking back control over my food intake…forever, reaching my healthy weight, cleansing out my body, reaching a higher vibrational state, letting go of my addiction to coffee and dairy (I already let go of sugar 9 months ago, yay me!), and just rocking out the new me!!

Cheers to Juice Feasting in PDX!!
